Traveling the Inner Sunset

Photo pop-up in Cole Valley | one of many San Francisco neighborhoods worth exploration

Sakura Gear Bag Special 🌸 gearing up

During these weekly photo romps, it’s been about exploring the neighborhood, and imagining you’re on a trip to Paris, Milan, the Andes, where ever, and gearing yourself up with a well-designed camera bag. Whatever you decide to put into it, is up to your own customization & tastes.

For me, I always have a trusty 35mm film SLR, a digital camera companion like an iPhone XR, a Moleskin notebook and plenty of stationary supplies. Cause’ I like to sketch along the way. It’s really feels like being a tourist in your own backyard.

One of my favorite photo walks is to begin in the Inner Sunset, like around 9th & Irving, and to hike into Cole Valley. It’s fun to stop in and have a coffee with the folks at Martha & Bros. Coffee.

   The Kids are Alright 🧿

Looking back on this Pandemic year, I had to take an inventory on some of the more meaningful things that happened, so I could figure out which direct to go. The last assignment I gave to three wonderfully gifted students, who were apart of a POPS Media Internship, really sticks out in my mind. I challenged these local high school students to come up with their own ‘dream job’ brochure. They came up with some amazingly creative ideas, and really, it provided me with just the push I needed to pursue my ‘dream job’ of creating an on line Vintage camera shop at Etsy. (Currently under construction)

Cole Valley free library

Walking along the arrondissements of Cole Valley, and seeing the cool Free Library created by local resident , I was feeling this bibliothèque spirit. I dropped off a first edition of my photo zine and talked with a gal about how she loves the freedom of dropping of a good read for someone, or picking up her own good read. Hope somebody finds the Film Verve ARts photo zine I dropped..

Writing you own photographic stories | Photo Montage technique

And the take away here, is after you’ve traveled in your own backyard, exploring with photography & travel-logging, and taking in all that’s unique about that place, it can be a fun exercise to create your own magazine or booklet for sharing with others.
