Trinity Overlook Park
Uses: Landscape Photography, Portraits
The entrance to Trinity Overlook Park is free, but parking is limited. I have not had any problems finding a space. This is a particularly good spot to shoot various bridges (Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and Margaret McDermott Bridge), and of course the downtown Dallas skyline. The Trinity River Trails come through here, so you can take some easy strolls on paved trails to find unique locations.
Trinity River Bridge
Uses: Landscape Photography
If you want a photo from here, you’ll need to park at Oak Cliff Founders Park and walk along S. Houston Street. The walk on the bridge is relatively safe as they have a dedicated pedestrian walk. There is a great shot of the Downtown Skyline, and perhaps you can even catch a trolly car in action.
Jefferson BLVD Bridge
Uses: Landscape Photography
This is the very best Dallas Cityscape Photography Location IMO. If you want a photo from here, you’ll need to park at Oak Cliff Founders Park and walk along Jefferson Blvd. The walk on the bridge is relatively safe as they have a dedicated bike lane as well as pedestrian walk. From here, there is only 1 photo, and it’s the best cityscape photograph of Downtown Dallas.
Downtown Dallas View
Uses: Landscape Photography
This is a nice view looking at downtown through the spans of Margaret McDermott Bridge. If you want a photo from here, you’ll need to park at Oak Cliff Founders Park or Trinity Overlook Park and walk on the Trinity River Trail. You can capture a nice shot looking through McDermott Bridge at downtown Dallas.
Dallas Heritage Village
Best Time: When Open
Uses: Landscape Photography, Weddings, Portraits
The Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park is a great spot with a collection of historic buildings, homes, schools, churches, etc. Entry is cheap, and well worth it. You can enter many of the buildings, and they often have people dressed up from the period. Makes for some great photographs. There are fees for professional photography, so check first as they must be planned in advance.

Rainbow McDermott Bridge
Best Time: Golden Hour
Uses: Landscape Photography, Portraits
If you want a photo from here, you’ll need to park at Oak Cliff Founders Park and hike on the Trinity River Trail. In this area you can take a photo of McDermott Bridge in the shape of a rainbow. Now if you ever catch a rainbow in between that bridge from this location, that would be incredible.

A great landscape photography shot! If you want a photo from here, you’ll need to park at Trinity Overlook Park and walk. Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge
Best Time: Golden Hour
Uses: Landscape Photography, Portraits
Parking is easy to access the Kirk Pedestrian Bridge. There are often vendors and usually many people out for a stroll. Good spot for portraits / photoshoots. Not a good location for Dallas skyline photos. To capture the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, it is better to go to Trinity Overlook Park and walk on the Trinity River Trail, or walk on Commerce St. You can get a photo of the bridge from N. Beckley and Singleton Blvd, but the area is busy with cars. Maybe try midnight on a Sunday, Even so, you’ll still need to get photoshop out to remove unwanted obstructions.

Entrance to the Trammell Crow Park is free. Parking is usually plentiful. The Trinity River Trails come through this park, so you can take some easy strolls on paved trails to find unique locations. The park has some nice landscape opportunities, as well as good views of the Downtown skyline. For a great downtown shot, walk up to the Sylvan Avenue Bridge right above the park.

The Pegasus
Best Time: sunrise/sunset, and after dark
Uses: Landscape Photography
You won’t find this listed on Google Maps for some reason, but it is a historic artifact. This is the original Dallas Pegasus. It began its life on the 29-story Magnolia Building in 1934, but now rests in front of the Omni Hotel. Easy shot, from here walk on over to Pioneer Plaza before the sunsets.

Pioneer Plaza
Best Time: 1-2 hours after sunrise 1-2 hours before sunset
Uses: Landscape Photography, Portraits
The Pioneer Plaza has statues of cows/bulls running along with Cowboys. It usually draws people in nice weather, so getting that pristine shot might mean you need to be patient or come back on a chilly day… Once done here, head over to Omni Dallas to get a picture of the original Dallas Pegasus.

Fair Park & Big Tex
Best Time: sunrise/sunset
Uses: Landscape Photography, Weddings, Portraits
This is Fair Park, home to the Texas State Fair, the Cotton Bowl, Big Tex, and many things to do. The Lagoon area and 1st Ave (toward Grand Ave) walk are excellent for portrait photography. There are some interesting buildings near the Hall of State. It is well worth a visit any time of year, and some great photos can be had.
